TWO HUNDRED PRISONERS STRIKEN WITH TYPHUS.
From intelligence received from Kieflp, we (Globe) learn that a terrible outbreak v cf typhus has occurred in the Kieff Prison, where 200 oiit of 760 inmates have been striken frith fever. The prison, bnilt for ,300 prisoners, has been crowded during the last year or two with W"iliilis',s, '-. and now contains nearly three times the regular number. When our advices left Kieff, General Tchortkoff, the Governor(Greneral of the' province, had- received telegraphic instructions from Loris Melikoff, to convey the healthy prisoners to one of the barracks, and the invalids to Tarious hospitals, the prison being kept empty till, cleansed and disinfected. The outbreakas said to be due quite as much to hunger as over-crowding and dirt, the prisoners, and particularly the Nihilists, receiving barely sufficient food to keep body and soul together. .GeneraLTchortkoff, who is partly responsible for this disgraceful state of affairs, has been three times fired at by the Nihilists.
