TIMARU.
Wednesday.
Some astonishing revelations were made in the case of Bassett v. Bassett heard before the B.M. to-day. The defendant who was formerly a boarding house keeper objected to contribute towards the maintenance of his wife, from whom he is now living apart, on the grounds that early one morning he fouud a lodger named Hay totally undressed undtr his wife's bed in her bedroom. The magistrate held that even if the wife behaved in an unwifely manner, her husband must assist iv supporting her, and made an order for 10s per week.
