NEW GOLDEN CROWN.
The mine manager supplies the following report:—l herewith faraish you with the following report for the past week:— Battery leTei, cross-cut drire: Doving the fortnight this has been driren 33 feet, making a total distance of 92 feet from the starting point, learing still eight feet for the contractor! to drive to complete the 100 feet. The face of the drire is now 10/ feet past the No. 2 reef, the quartz of which, when cut through, is heavily charged' with antimony and other good minerals. Its course is north-west end south-east, or running parallel with No. 1 in the same di ire, so that about the latter end of this week the company's men will be able to open out the rar.ous reefs in the cross-cat. Intermediate lefel^dtiTe in foot-wall leader): This ieeder duting the last day or two has been much smaller and somewhat disturbed; but there are sereral small reins striking from the footwall side showing a little gold occasionally and I believe these reins will form s> portion of the leader when driren a few feet further ahead. At this lerel the hanging* wall leader has been driren on » distance of 20 feet, its arerage thickness being about one foot; and although little gold has been seen, 1 believe it wi'l pfore payable. The 100 feet lerel: -The crosscut at this lerel has been driren a distance of 41 feet through splendid count y, and during the week a reiy promising leader, About for? inches thick, was met with, 'which, in cutting through, gare a few pounds of specimens, and, when opened out, I think, will prore a Valuable leader. There are from 60 to 71 tons of quartz on hand from the intermediate lerel, which I am forwarding to the battety to be crushed during the week.
