This day.

Fatal Railway Accident.

When the last goods train from Clinton had got about half a mile on the south of the Waihola last evening, the engine apparently struck at something and the train was stopped immediately. The guard on looking about, found a man dead, lying across the rails. A telegram was sent to town this aftai'noon intimating that the body had been identified as that of one James Bacon. It was removed to Waihola, where an inqaest will be held. On an examination of the orpine attached to the goods train which followed the express, marks of blood and brains were found upon it, so that the deceased must ba*e been killed by the engine.
