The manager reports as follows:—" 70 feet lerel, east: Stoping is the only work now being carried on on Sons of Freedom reef in this direction since my last report. No. 1 winzs west: This winse has been carried down a depth of 42 feet, when the reef became poor, and I therefore opened out an intermediate lerel: Driving has 1 been earned on daring the past fortnight lin the western end. The reef was oom* posed of good minerals showing good colours of gold, with occasionally _ some picked stone. Fooiwall leader: Stoping has been carried on here, the reef giring some rery good crashing dirt, with colors of gold. The ground is still rery hard and the reef much split up. Only 15| feet hare been driren during the last fortnight. Sons of Freedom tunnel: Contractors hare also thrown up their contract and a fresh one has been let. The new party hare started, but as they hare been engaged for so far in repairing drire and getting into working order, I cannot as yet report any change in appearance of reef. Battery: Not baring made a start until late in the month, and haring been frequently delayed einoe then, there hare only been about 220 tons of quartz put through, from which r return of 5700z8 17dwts gold was obtained. <llbe - battery and all the machinery conneoted with it is working as well as I could wish.
