Yesterday,
At an inspection of volunteers last night there were 750 men on parade, Colonel Scratchley dwelt strongly on the necessity for day drill if the volunteers were to be made efficient.
An advance in the price of wool-
A wool sale was held by Mr Donald Strouach on behalf of New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Limited, at the Otago wool yard to-day, when about 800 bales were disposed of at a satisfactory price, greasy cross breds fetched up to 12d per 1b; and merinos up to 12|d; washed descriptions were well competed for, and realised up to I7fd for crossbred ; and I9d for merino. The next salo by the Company has been fixed for Feburary 3. „
