This Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with a view of supplying to ! tome extent the great and increasing demand for small holdings for iona fide settlement. I As soen as tht block is decidert upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed j into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according to rules to be agreed upon at a general meeting of the sub- { scribing members of the proposed Association in selections ol a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members'! of the Association such modifications of the land on deferred-payment clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by lona, fide settlers and subscribers without necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Provisional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample reserves for religious, educational, recreation, and public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately waited upon the Government with the view of bringing this scheme under their notice end favorable consideration. The payments nre to bo computed on some well-defined, liberal, and easily-urderstood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not lees than ten (10) years. Each stibscribing member will be required to deposit a sum equal to ten percentum of the total value of the share of land be applies for before bin application can be entertained, and a further payment of two pßrcentuui per month on said total value until such time as the - block to be applied for is acquired by the Association, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such time as tho Association shall make arrangements with the Government for allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that such monthly payments of two percentum do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application. All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of New Zealand to the Asso-. ciation'f account, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing interest, and no withdrawals or payments to be made bj cheque against such account without the authority and signature of the .Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. Agent*, or Acting-Directors, for the Association will also bo appointed in all-the centres of population throughout the provincial district as coon as practicable. As soon as, in the opinion of the Frovi? sional Directory, a sufficient number of shares are applied foj*, a general meeting of subscribing members will be called for the purpose of passing and adopting permanent zules and by-laws or articles of Association for the future guidance of the Association, and also for the election of a permanent Board of Directors and Management. If the Provisional Directors are unable to make satisfactory arrangements with tbe Government, or from any other cause they find that they are unable to carry out the scheme suggested by this prospectus, they may return to each subscriber the nmoutt of his subecription with accrued interest, less bid ebure of the expense* or liabilities then incurred. .
