Last night. Mr Kobe-1 Port, a merchant, has assigned his estate. The liabilities are stated to be £45,000, and the assets £66,<X)0.
Tho recent collision on the Welliug-ton-Fcathorston railway appears, to be due to tho failure'of the engine break at a critical time.
Mr P. G. Moore, a chemist, died suddonly last night at 10 o'clock. Not feeling very well about 5 o'clock, he took a soothing, draught, probably chlorul. After which he sank into a state of coma. He was irt excellent spirits during the day. and had been preparing to open a debate at a Debating Club. Ho was highly respected, and a universal favorite. He leaves a wife but no children.
