, The accident to Montague Brown was caused by pigs running across the road, and frightened the horse which shied, throwing Brown and the lady against a fence. The lady was only shaken. Brown' s thigh is broken a few inches above the knee. The fracture is simple. Hon. Mr Pharazin, member of the ■Legislative Council, has- divided his honararium amongst certain Episcopalian Church. The Hon. John Sheehan goes north in the Hinemoa at one o'clock. Cable advices from London notify that the Bank of New Zealand have floated the Wellington Corporation £100,Q03 loan at a premium of £4000. Lateb. . The Hinemoa left at two o'clock with the Native Minister, Messrs Gill, Johnston, and .Berry, Wi Parata and other 'Maori passengers. ; Eliza Chelcott, fell into the fireplace last night, and was put to bed, .but shortly 'after was found dead. About a fortnight ago her husband was brought up for ill using her. A Police Pension Bill has been prepared. Its main provisions are that first each member of the force pays'five per cent, upon his salary for five years, as his contribution towards a superannuation fund, and after years (?) seven and a half per cent. A| an additional aid to the superannuation fired, it is to receive half of the fines imposed in the force. After fifteen years service members are to be entitled to a pension of one-fifth of the salary they are in receipt of at the expiration of that period.
