CHRISTCHUECH

. Thursday. W. Power, 15 years old, with several aliases, was charged with stealing a gold chain and locket, the property of Edward Gribble. The robbery'was committed in a boarding-house. On information given to the detectives the boy was arrested, but in the meantime had pledged the chain for 355, and spent the money. He told the police he had been brought from Dunedin by four men to commit robbery. Inspector Hicken said, however, that his real name was Wm. Power, and that ho was the son of a carter in Dunedin, and formerly employed as message boy in the office of the Otago Daily Times. He had been convicted of forgery and liber-, ated on, his father's recognizance to come, up for sentence when called on. The magistrate said he had abused his chance, and committed him for trial.
