AQUATICS.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sir, — I observe the residents of Ponsonby are endeavoring to get up a regatta, and as our local club have just received their new gig from Messrs Salter and Co., London, I think it would be weli to make an effort to get a crew together and have the boat tried. There is still a small balance due on the boat, and the Committee have—Wisely, I think —determined not to unpack it until this is made up. However, this would surely soon be met if there was a prospect of making use of the gig this season. I believe that were the Ponsonby Regatta Committee informed that we were likely to enter a boat for a four-oared outrigger race, they would have a race of that description placed on the programme, with a prize worth contesting for attached. I would recommend our boating men to take the matter in hand.—l am, etc.,
Aifbed Buttle.
Grahamstown, Feb. 20th, 1879. [We understand that the Hon. Secretary to the Thames Club has communicated with the defaulting subscribers asking them to pay up. Also, that he has written to the Ponsonby Club on the matter suggested by our correspondent. —Ed.] ■
