This day. The sale of Gilligan's racing stud brought a large attendance. Danebury was bought by 31. Yallance for £500; Laertes, by J. Walker, of Wanganui, for £475; Fiction, by Mr Butler, £250; Mufti, by Mr B. Mason, £425 ; Lady of the Lake, Mr Walker, 95 guineas ; Songster, by Mr Black, £275; Javelif, bought in, £775. At the sale of Prize stocks Prince William realised 340 guineas, Mo rift 220, Awamoa 100 guineas, White Bathertley 115 guineas. Monday. The Mayor of Sydenham was reflected Jo-day without opposition. It was not known by the general public that to-day had been gazetted a public holiday by the Government. It was not kept by the public, though Sunday hours are kept at the Telegraph Offices, and public offices are closed. The sale of race-horses is now proceeding. At the settling up to-day the following •takes were paid over:—Kay, £1421155; W. Mallock, £427 10s; W. F. Neilson, £546 3d; J. oslligan, £370 10s; A Devery, £166 ss;' H. H. Goodman, £97 10s; .Redwood. £30; H. Prince, £15. Total stakes, £3104 13s.
