The County Elections take place tomorrow. In Thames County the candidates go to the poll only in three ridings, the candidates for the other three having been returned unopposed. Of the ridings in which the contests come off to morrow, Waiotahi may fairly claim first notice. For this division four candidates are in the field, the two old representatives and two new to public life; and, if we may hazard an opinion on the result of any election, it is on the Waiotahi. The two old members—one of whom has been Chairman of the County Council since it was first elected — have deserved well of the electors, who will no doubt signify their appreciation of past services and confidence for the future by re-electing Messrs Brodie and Coutts, to tb» exclusion of the " new blood." Kauaeranga Biding has induced four can* didates to enter the lists, and it is believed that all of them will get considerable lupport. It is the largest electorate, numerically, in the County, and therefore the more difficult to pass an opinion upon as to results. The four candidates have pretty well canvassed the district, and in return their merits and demerits have been canvassed by the electors, so we hope the best men will win. Ohinemuri Hiding, with its six candidates, must be very much divided if all the candidates have a hope of getting votes; and the resident electors being so divided in their opinion, the result will very much depend upon the number of voters who go from the Thames. _ Mr John Brown seems to hold first place in public favor here, and next to him come Messrs Robson and Porter, and the two successful candidates will Hot be far ahead of either of these— Brown and Porter being fancied for choice,
