TAURANGA.

This day.

The Bay of Plenty Times contradicts the statements appearing in several papers to the effect that Tukukino stopped 1500 sheep belonging to Mr H. Alley at Komata, Ohinemuri. The Times states that Mr Alley on arrival at Komata put all the sheep into a native paddock without any reference to resident natives, who to establish their manu on the land asked Alley a sum of one shilling per hundred for the night's paddocking. This, Alley peremptorily declined to give through his solicitor, and the natives thereupon properly demanded ten pounds before allowing the sheep to pass on.
