AUCKLAND.

Sunday. Arrived: City of Melbourne, from Sydney. Captain Brown reports leaving on the 20th. When the Sydney Government found that Mr Hall was unable to comply with the terms of the contract, they chartered the City of Melbourne themselves to take the month's mails to San Francisco, and sent her via Auckland, because it was understood the New Zealand Government had refused to send the mails by the Cyphrenes. She awaits instructions from Wellington as to whether to call at Kandavu or go straight on to San Francisco. She passed the Colima on her passage across.
