Shellback School Examination.
The Shellback school brofce up for the holidays yesterday. The school was thrown open to visitors in the forenoon, but the..soaking rain and oceans; .of^mud deterred sniany jftrcmC^omiijg.HT.h'bf examinations; which had'Beeh" going on tire' whole of last week, were brought to a close, and the results, on paper, were laid on the tables for inspection, and a detailed prize list : -will,rW£, believe,- appear in due time.- ?M beauJifui%rea^6f»nßfe(Jlewdrk, plain and fancy, occupied the attention of the judges, Mrs Teasdale, Miss Viall and Mrs Maberly, the whole morning, and they had.gr,eat in deciding the merits oP each 1, -as iill wdre^ so good; this class is under the charge of Mrs Fulljames. Mr Maberly, the master, begs to apologise for having mislaid the list of the prize winners in needlework last evening, so that the names were not read out; they are as follows :— Catherine prisegtt, Susan Ellis, Margaret
Colley, Agnes Steel, Annie Small, Frances; Crisp (knitting),; Elizabeth Mawson,; Jane Gillan, Margaret Tierney, Minuie Hodge, Eleanor Stark, Catherine Tierney,; Sarah Jones. The prizes will be given toi these the first day after the holidays. '■ At 4 p.m. the. children assembled and; partook of a bountiful supply of cake and; tea, after which Mrs Fraser presented the prizes, of .which th«re were a, great numJ|ej. %Mr'-^Wriu,:Moyre presented four beautiful volumes for general improvement c6mbined>with"good conduct, and they were awarded to Fred. K. Weston, Wm. Hall, Catherine Friscott, Agnes Steel.
