ACCIDENT AT THE MANUKAU MINE.
An accident occurred at the Manukau mine this morning, at. half-past seven/ o'clock, to a miner named Thomas WaV ton. He was tamping a charge of powder (with a copper-headed rod, it is kJif(lQ&^ when the charge exploded, inflicting severe injuries, the principal of which are to the eyes, the leFt eye being most hurt^ oi and the right arm below the elbow. The injuries are rery painful, but they Mx 6 ftot considered dangerous, and it is hoped the man's sight will Abe restored..- Walton^ was taken to the Hospital and to by Dr Fox.
