ADJOURNED MEETING THIS DAY.
TKe adjourned meeting of delegates of the Waio-Karaka mines was held at the Pacific; Hotel, to-day at two o'clock. Present—Messrs Garland, Macky, J. Murray, T. L. Murray, Buckland, Turtle, Fryer, Hicks, McCabe. Mr Wilkinson in the chair.
The chairman having stated the purpose for which the meeting was adjourned, said that he understood the companies were no.t agreeable to offer more than the £6000 already offered, and that some of them could not agree to the apportioning of the shares as proposed last evening. Mr Murray stated he had said last evening what the lowest terms were.
Mr Buckland proposed that Mr Macdonald be appointed solicitor of the proposed company. Mr Garland stated that the City of London were of the same opinion as they were last night namely to offer £6000..:"
Mr Turtle oh behalf of the Queen of May stated that they were willing to pay a fair contribution towards the pumping but were not in a position to join the proposed Company. The proposition of Mr Buckland was then seconded by Mr McCabe.
% The Chairman suggested that as the other; mines could not.join, the three prin-, cipal mines undertake it themselves. -Mr Garland said he was only deputed to join with all the other mines, and could not join with the other two, Bright Smile and Queen of Beauty He would propose a formal offer of £6000 be made tor the plant, seconded by Mr Buckland. The.Chairman having put the two propositions to the meeting, they were carried.
Mr Buckland proposed that the Chairman communicate with the various directories, asking them to appoint one or more of:their number as members of the Beard of Directors.
Seconded by Mr Turtle. . A vote of thanks to the Chairman ter minated the proceedings.
