We understand that Sir George Grey will leave the Kawau for Auckland on Wednesday. He will visit the Thames as soon as possible thereafter, in order to start the roads to Ohinerauri and Tairua. There is no time fixed for his visit to the Waikato, and probably he may postpone that for some time yet. It is his intention to bring the Mining Districts Act Amendment Act into forco as soon as possible.—Herald.

The second of Mr Severn's interesting series of lectures on light and spectrum analysis will be given this evening in the City Hall. It is impossible to speak too highly of this gentleman's lecturing abilities, and his magnificent apparatus and thorough knowledge of his subject combine to render them interesting and enter-: tainining in the highest degree. Mr Severn promises to bring the history of light up to the latest discoveries, embracing some new developments of the last few weeks.:—Herald.
