There is a little improvement in the share .market, probably owing to the fine weather and its being the season of the year when advantage will be taken for crushing stuff previous to the Christmas holidays. The .Thames District. . A private^ letter to a gentleman of position here states that Sir George Grey and Captain Fraser are likely to be the Thames candidates. In the hands of two such mem,"the interests of tbe Thames and surrounding goldfields would be in the keeping of two gentlemen whose -action would^net only secure confidence in the minei's, bufc enable the district wants to be placed the House and the country in the most favourable light. , The German Steamer. This-vessel has left our shores with very favorable impressions of the treatment which they collectively received at the hands of Auckland people. Sir Geo. Grey was to entertain the distinguished commander and the rest of the officers at Itawau to-day; and I feel certain that the last habitable land upon which the gallant fellows left their imprints was* perhaps as beautiful in every respect as any of the places which they hare, or will visit.
