The specimen leader, cut in the chamber has been followed about 30 feet showing about 1 foot of quartz, and has carried the new vein found in driving towards No. 2 which has been reached at about 20 feet from the chamber and is now being driven on towards the win ate distant 25 feet, this lode shows a firm.body of quartz about 18 inches wide. On the western side of the chamber the: specimen.leader has been followed a few feet, but merging into broken country, it has been left for. the present, the drive continuing and is now on the course of "No. 3 reef, which presents a fair body of easily worked^crushing stuff from 3 to 4. feet thick, this will be followed to the winze sunk upon the junction of the specimen leader and No. 3, from whence 'operations can be carried on simultaneously upon both leaders. The whole.of the ground so far as opened is favourable for operations, gold showing in small quantities in each of the reefs ; the only trouble being gas-in hazy weather, this:however will be remedied whenever the winzes are reached which is anticipated to be done in a week. Crushing at the battery is lookingup for an average return. '
