THE SOCIETIES DEMONSTRATION.
(To the Editor of tbe Evening Star.)
Sib, —Since writing to you yesterday I have been informed that the lessees of the Parawai Gardens retain the right to sell booths and stalls for Boxing Day. Also that £5 is promised them should tho Demonstration be a success. Why the committee appointed by the societies have made such an arrangement, I cannot understand, in the face of an offer made by the proprietor of Tararu Gardens to give the gales, lootks, and stalls for nothing, and the promise of a sum of money from the Tramway Company towards the receipts of the day. I believe the intention is to swell the hospital funds as much as possible, if the above arrangement is carried out I fear it is not the way to do it. Let "Parawai at all events do as much as Tararu so that tho hospital may benefit substantially. Yours truly, Inqttihee. Grabamstown, November^,.lß7s,
