CALEDONIAN.

An improvement in the stone from this mine is apparent, owing to operations being transferred from the north, part of the drive on the Cure lode to that portion immediately above the rich ;shot of gold obtained^ in ■ putting in the tirive. Stoping has been started from the Cure boundary, and the necessary timbers will be placed to carry on this work securely ; the few shots that have been put in have brought- down golden stone, and as the stope is extended in length and height, corresponding with the breadth of the < gold shot> the present good show of gold J in the drive will be maintained or increased. In addition to which, as soon as the timbers are fixed sinking a winze on the run of gold can be undertaken. At present fully 40jbs specimens have been secured.
