FORESTRY.

Opening of a new Court—Pride '■■ of tne-Nortih.

The success which has attended the Court Pride of Parnell has induced the leading members of the order of Forestry to open a new Court at the Thames, and a3 the members of the Loyal Hunter Lodge of Odd Fellows were dissatisfied with the > manner in which their business was attended to in New South Wales, the majority decided upon joining a new court of Foresters. Application was duly made to the District Court of the order of Foresters in Auckland for the necessary authority, which was accordingly granted, and in the absence of the District Chief Ranger, Bro. Angus Campbell, Sub Chief Ranger, was authorised to open the new court at the Thames. Chief Ranger Brother Robinson, of Court Pride of Parnell, opened his Court, and admitted in proper form eight members of the proposed new Court. On the j platform were Past Chief Rangers Camp-; bell, Smith, Rawden,' Comes, and Paul. After the admission of the new members, Brother Campbell, D.S.C.R., took the chair, and haying read his dispensation and instructions, ; opened the. new Court under the name of " Court Pride of the .. North," and 22 new members were initiated. After all the candidates were admitted, they proceeded to elect their officers, and Bro. P.C.R. F. W Paul, of Greymouth, was unanimously elected Chief Ranger, and Bro. C. Morrow, S.C.R., Bro. Dunn, Treasurer, and Bro. C. Ahier, Permanent Secretary. The subordinate offices were also filled by members newly admitted. Bro. Paul was duly installed into office with his office-bearers, and at once proceeded to transact some necessary business.

Votes of thanks "were passed to D.S.C.K. Campbell for the very efficient manner in which he performed the duties in the absence of the D.C.R., and also to the C.R., Bro. Robinson, and officers of Court Pride of Parnell for their assistance and support. The new court opens with every prospect of being successful, and will no doubt fulfil the objects sought after by its promoters.

After the business was concluded all present, over sixty persons, adjourned to the Anchor Hotel, where Bro. Cohen provided a supper in his best style, to which ample justice was done. A number of toasts were proposed and given, and a most pleasant evening was passed, which will be long remembered by the members of Court Pride of the North.
