BAPTIST SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.

The fifth anniversary meeting of the above was held yesterday evening, in the Chapel, Willoughby street. The weather was very unpropitious, but a good number of people assembled. Mr James Ren--shaw presided on the platform, and the Revs J T. Hinton (the new Minister), R. Laishley, and J. Crump were also present and addressed the meeting. * The Secretary read an account of the work of the past year, and alluded to the: great loss they had sustained in the death of the Rev. J. Davies, their Minister; Mrs Donovan, a teacher,, and others. The report of the school showed 184 scholars, divided into 12 classes, superin- | tended by 18 teachers.

The-Librarian's report waa read, which spoke of the necessity that existed for more; books, and snowed that 1210 volumes had been issued during the year, and that there were available for issue 230f books:) r' : - .:) r,f The Treasurer's report showed 'an expenditure of £36 5s 3d, being an excess over income of £2 Os 3d, which 7 was the balance due to the Treasurer. The building fund showed an expenditure of £32 10s sd, with a debt of £20 sslOetr The Rev. J. Hititon addressed the assembly at length, explaining the absence of his wife, which was caused by; an accident to his eldest son, and of the kind manner he had been received. He would, he said, try to gain 4heir esteem, and hoped he would long remain among them. Some of Mr Sankey's hymns brought the proceedings to" a close.
