COROMANDEL,
Monday. The Union Beach started working today. The battery is being put in repair ready for crushing. Heenan's claim.— 59 ozs of melted gold got from 8 tons of stone and a few pounds of picked stone. A dividend has been declared of fourteen pounds per share. Golden Point.—A good show of gold in the leader to-.day. " The Plutus, from 40 tons of stuff got about 26 ozs of- retorted gold. The tributers are going oh with the work. Bismarck. —A fair show of gold in the leader.
Whangapbua.—rThe Rose cleared out this morning. The Fanny, Wanderer and Gazelle are loaded, and clear out to-night. The Albatross is expected from Napier.
I visited the school to-day. There were about 35 scholars in attendance. Mr Harris intends building a larger school. A heavy fresh yesterday, and a number of logs got down to the booms. The Rev. Mr Fraser gave two services yesterday to large congregations. There is a marked improvement in the people since Ministers visited Whangapoua regularly. This day. Tokatea.—9Olbs. of specimens last night from the Siege level, with a good show in the face left. The Union Beach are making rapid progress towards the leader. Murphy's Hill start crushing tomorrow; they expect four ounces per ton.
