MIDDLE STAR.
A very short time has elapsed since this property was sold by auction and purchased by Bowler and Hunter, who have lost no time in'working a portion themselves, and in letting on tribute other portions, each party having got out and crushed small trial parcels. The largest parcel, 10|- tons, crushed for the proprietors, at the Tramway battery, has turned out satisfactory, the yield being 12 ounces 4 dwts melted gold. One and a-_h/tlf tons crushed for Peterson's tribute gave 25 dwts, and the crushing for Shepherd's tribute of a similar quantity gave 22 dwts gold ; a scarcely payable return, but sufficient to encourage a further trial.
