Friday. The fourth half-yearly report; of the National Insurance Company shows that total receipts for the halt-year, including £2,000 from the previous balance, amount to £42.738 ; and the expenditure for the same period is £23 576, leaving for distribution £19,161, which is proposed to appropriate as follows :—lieserve fund, £5,000 (which will then make reserve £35,000) ; a dividend of 15 per ctnt, per annum, £3.750 ; carried forward to next half-year, £10,411. The company is interested in the Strathmore for £3,800, which is not provided for in the present balance-sheet.

In a drainage machine competition at Milton yesterday M esars Reid and Gray took first prize of £100; no second prize was awarded.
