OUT OF WORK.

(To the Editor of the Evening Star.) Sib, -On this subject"NilDes^crandum" writes a letter whick appeared in yesterday's Advertiser. Et is (juite interesting to read it. See his varied attainments! Who is he ? If I snswer as his letter intiinates he is some ■' La-dee-da " who has been doing Scrip Corner, but now that his occupation is gone he wants to raise the wind ie some other manner. It is no use wasting words criticising his maulineas, as shown by his letter ; I will merely refer to one sentence o* his rthere he *ays—l am not au advocate for reducing wajes, but; if companies would employ mox'e men and give less wages, they could give work to more hands. Sir, this evidently is an insidious | stab at the mine managers; however, I leave those persons to defend themselves. Still the absurdity of the suggestion is ao clar that it unices it evident that his capacity for woik is on a par with his reason and honor. I suppose tvnere ten men would be tmployed he would not like to do one-tenth of their work if he was one of the number, but if twenty were employed tj do ten men's work, he Tould manage to do one twentieth, and I believe every working man will say thai even that would be too much for him. I will ieavo him here. Ouo word more to you Mr Editor: What immediate benefit can it be to the unemployed, advocating the settlement of the land question? Ncne whatever. It's only livo horse and you'll get grass. In my opinion therefore those persons who sympathise with the unemployed the best course they cau pursue is to confine themselves to such o <urse as will immediately find those who are in JM|d emp'oyment. —I am, &c, BB* A Miner. Tham s, October 30th 18/5.
