ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. HERO FROM SYDNEY WITH LATER ENGLISH NEWS.
AUCKLAND.
This clay. A steamer is signalled, believed to be the Mikado.
Arrived: Hero, s.s., from Sydney, after a very rough passage.
On the 21st inst., when about 100 miles from Sydney a . heavy gale was experienced, and heavy seas broke on board, doing a lot of damage. While tho captain, second mate, and crew were working at clearing the wreck, another green sea broke over the ship, smashing the wheel, earring away rail, and washing the second mate overboard. '
Captain Logan was also badly bruised, and several of the- crew crippled. The ship arrived in a very disabled condition.
