CITY OF YORK.

The water in this company's shaft has been hauled up by the horse whim during the past week, and is now reduced to within 15 feet of the bottom, the depth of shaft being 284, feet. A few days will be required to bale it completely. The manager Mr J. Gribble has also men on for the necessary work in putting up hopper, and otherwise improving the pass to be ready for delivery of quartz from the drive on reef continued from the City of London workings on the 260 feet level. A few feet of rock have yet to be broke through to connect cross-cut with shaft. In the course of a short time this mine will be in a position to supply quartz for milling purposes.
