TAIRUA.

This company having proved the worth of their general crushing dirt, by means of the small 4-stamper battery erected in connection with their mine, to be equal-to about five ounces of gold to the ton, have decided to erect additional crushing power, and for this purpose have purchased the old Shotover battery, which for a long time has been out of use, and will move the same to their mill site, Tairua. The battery proper consists of 12 head stampers complete. The motive power will be steam; the engine to bs furnished by Price Brothers, of Grahamstown, amd the boiler will be obtained from Auckland, h very effort will be put forward to place the mrchinery on the the ground as soon as possible, and no doubt the battery will be as usefully employed in developing the Prospectors' ground at Tairua as it was in the Kuranui Creek for the Prospectors at the Thames Goldfield, and give an impetus to the Tairua district generally.
