Wednesday. The House met at 2.30 p.m. Mr Ballance intends moving an amendment in the Representation Bill, that in districts returning three members no roter bo allowed to vote for more than J two. As regards natives' claims upon the ] Middle Island, the Government will inquire into these claims with a view of submitting some proposal next session, but they will not enquire into any claim behind 1868, when the Native Land Court decided upon the matter. Mr Uoweu told Mr Sheehau the Government had not yet taken any step towards appointing a permanent Resident Magistrate in Auckland. Mr Thomson gave notice to uiove that the next session commence not later than the firßt week in June, and that the Government should havo all its bills then ready. The Lodgers' Enfranchisement Bill was read a second time. A good deal of miscellaneous business, not of general interest, was transacted, aud the House adjourned at 0 p.m.
