ACADEMY OF MUSIC.

A concert by several prominent lady and gentlemen amateurs was given most successfully yesterday evening in the Academy of Music. The programme was advertised to include English, Scotch, Irish, and last, though by no means least, Local Songs, these being supplied by Mr W. H. JKeed. ,1 he songs were we'l rendered, and encores loud and frequent, so frequent that several of the performers were obliged to merely bow their acknowledgements in the place of another song, and so loud that Mr. W. H. Heed had to appear a third time ere the applause which greeted his efforts on one occasion could be stayed. Miss E. Dow sustained the greater share of the labour among the ladies, and Mr Keed amongst the gentlemen ; but they were well and ably supported by Misses Hunter and Mason, as well as by Messrs. H. Eobjnson, T. Mills, and Trewheela. Mr Catran was unfortunately unable to appear,! but Miss Mason amply atoned for his absence by her song placed instead of it, and which was deservedly encored. Miss Hunter maintained the high reputation she possesses, both in her song " Shylie Bawn," and her duet with Miss h'. Dow, both of which were encored. The whole performance was very successful, and we hope we have not seen the last of these concerts.
