THE Proprietor of Ellerslie Gardens announces that on the Prince of Wales' Birthday he will give Valuable Prizes for Ath)e»ic Competition* to come <ff in the Gardens on that day. The principal prize will be THE BIRTHDAY CUP, VALUE £50. This will be compe'ed for in three running handicaps of 100 yards, 300 yards, and 880 yards. For running first in any of the races 6 poinis will he allowed, for running second 4 points, and for running third 2 points. The Competitor scoring the highest to'alof poinis i- the three races will receive the first priz , £25 in money, and a Valuable Silver Cup p?esented by Mr Joseph Ellis, Excbungs Hotel, Queen street. A second aggregate prize of £8, and a third of £5 will also be given. In addiion to the aggregate prizes, first and sec-nd prizeß of £3 and £1 respectively will be awarded at each distance.
