THIS DAY. (Before W. Fraser, Esq., E. M.) DEUNKENNESS. . ... One man pleaded guilty to having been drunk yesterday, and was fined 10s and costs or 24 hours' imprisonment. STBAT QATTLE. W. JET. Taipari was charged with allowing a horse to be at large in Grey street, Parawai, on the 22nd September. Defendant admitted the ckatpe, and was fined 2s 6d and costs, his worship remarking that it was getting an expensive horse. The same person was charged with allowing one horse to be at large in Bowen street, Parawai. Defendant denied this charge. Mi 1 Wilkinson was sworn as interpreter. ■. • ■;'. : . -.;■:■-■■;■;.■■ John Pete, sworn, deposed—That he was a laborer. On the 23rd of last month he was coming along Bpwen street and he found a horse at large. He was taking the horse to the pound when he found another horse straying. As he was going to the pound, Taipari, the defendant, came and said the horses were his, and witness allowed him to take them. Witness was employed by the Parawai Board and it was his duty to look after these things, The witness was cross-examined by defendant, apparently with a view to show that the horses were both together. Defendant said the witness was wrong; the two horses were both in one place. Fined 2s 6d and costs. ALLEGED WIFE BEATING. Bobert Wingate, charged with UHlawfully assaltiug one Jossio Wiagate, did
