HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
". THE EVENING SITTING. WELLINGTON. This day. ! The House reassembled at 7.30, when progress was reported on the Debtors and Creditors Bill. The committee went as far as clause 107 iv the Stamp Duties Bill, and the following clauses were postponed—from 50 to 53 inclusive. Clause 89, relating to mortgages, was struck out, and clause 96, relating to politics of sea insurance, was postponed. The Bills of Sale Bill was passed. •Mr Bowen moved the second reading of the Pepresentation Bill, and said that considering the present organic changes about to be effected, the Government did not think it advisable to go further in the the adjustment of representation than remedying the most glaring inequalities of representation. When the colony was laid off into shires would be the time to go fully into the question of redistributing. Sir George Grey strongly opposed the bill as unfair and improper in the way it dealt with representatives. Mr Cuthbertson moved the adjournment of the debate. The House then went into Committee of Supply, and passed all the items in Class VI. Adjourned at 12.30.
