This day. Upon the House resuming at 7.30 i p.m. — 1 Mr Eeid moved the second reading of the Employment of Females Act Amendment Bill, which was carried on a division of 31 to 25. The Eegistration of Electors Act Amendment Bill was read a second time. It provides that clerks of municipal corporations, highway boards, etc., should prepare lists of ratepayers within their respective districts and forward the same to the Kegistration Officer of the electoral district in which they are situated, who shall treat them as lists of claimants to vote. • . Sir Geo. Grey's Gold Duty Abolition Bill was thrown out by 27 to 18. Mr T. L. Shepherd's bill to reduce the gold duty to sixpence per ounce was thrown out by 28 to 14
