This day. Arrival of the Invercargill.

50 cases of Whooping Cough. The ship Invercargill, 1246 tons, Captain Peacock, from Greenock on July 2, has arrived. Mr Monson, tide surveyor, accompanied by Dr Drysdale, proceeded down harbor to clear the ship, but on ranging alongside it appeared from the official statement by Capt. Peacock that 50 cases of whooping cough were raging. The vessel was at once ordered to hoist the foul flag and await the decision of the Board of Health. She brings 436 souls. During the passage there have been 8 deaths and 4 births ; 7 deaths were those of children, and one was an adult seaman. The cases are described as follows:— bronchitis, 1; phthisis, 1; diarrhoea, 6. During the voyage 66 cases of measles have occurred, the last one on the 3rd instant.
