[By'Telegbam.] (feom a cobbespondent.) WELLINGTON. Friday. The debates in committee are rendered inconceivably wearisome by Messrs Stout, Murray and others. The first of these gentlemen is always setting everybody right upon everything, and occasionally finds that he is altogether wrong himself upon something. The committee to-day was preceded by a row, caused by Fitzherbert's denunciations of the manner in which the press had misrepresented Sir George Grey and the Opposition. As that part of the press which Sir George more immediately controls literally top 3 the infinite of untruth as regards all who are not in opposition; the denunciation did not come in well. 'The Governnsent's action in yielding to the pressure of Macandrew last night, in vulgar words " cooks" them for the North Island. Already some of their strongest supporters—not hangers on but conscientious men—are crying off them.
