This day.
At a meeting this morning of the supporters of Government it was agreed that the Abolition Bill should pass this session, but not come into opei'ation until after the meeting of next Parliament. It is left with Ministers to arrange on what clay, but not later than the last day of the session. It is understood that the above will be accepted by the Opposition. A proposal by the Opposition that the Act should only come into operation after its proclamation by the Governor at the request of the legislature, was rejected. The Government parly are desirous to have an agreement with the Opposition members that there shall be no further meetings of Provincial Councils, and that all Provincial expenditure shail only be with the sanction of the General Government.
