I believe the Council should use their, united influence to conmctTairua, Ptiriri, and other townships wi'li the Thames by means of good dray roads in preference to mere tracks and cuttings. . ; . j I am opposed to the present law which deprives a Burgess of his vote because his rates are not paid by a certain date. So long j as the Council accepts the rate a man's right to vote should be sacred. I am not in favour of the present rule or by-law which requires a ratepayer to form or assist in forming the'footpath'opposite his premises. With reference to official expenses, I am nat aa advocate of cheap service. I consider that an efficient officer should be well paid. These, gentlemen/are ft few ©fniy views on theee matters,, and if you think Tararu and Grahamstbwn sufficiently represented—to put it modestly, some of the others will do as well as myself. On the other hand, if you think there are any candidates competed with Auckland capitalists, or have a bit of land where they would like a wharf, or connected with certain timber interests, then likewise Burgesses , VOTE FOR McOOWAN AND INDEPENDENCE. ■ ■■'■; . r ..; 1013 MUNICIPAL ELECTION.
