I believe the Council should use their, united influence to conmctTairua, Ptiriri, and other townships wi'li the Thames by means of good dray roads in preference to mere tracks and cuttings. . ; . j I am opposed to the present law which deprives a Burgess of his vote because his rates are not paid by a certain date. So long j as the Council accepts the rate a man's right to vote should be sacred. I am not in favour of the present rule or by-law which requires a ratepayer to form or assist in forming the'footpath'opposite his premises.
