(feom a coeeespondent.)
September 4th. Young.—This company's ground stands in a really good position to catch the reefs of the Triangle. and Ajax grounds. A considerable amount of prospecting has heen done. A reef of 30 feet thick has been crossed in trenching ; this reef runs north and south. And at about twelve feet west another reef has been unearthed; this is about six feet thick, showing a little gold. The manager intends trenching next week towards hi& western boun? dary for the purpose of intersecting the Triangle reef. , ,
Teoy.—ln this company's ground I find a considerable amount of trenching has been done, also a. drive in 30 feet towards the National boundary. In one of the trenches I was shown a nice looking leader 2 feet thick. The manager took out and crushed from this leader a small piece of st&ne from wh^ieh he obtained a fair prospect. Teiangle.—l visited the above mine yesterday, work is going on. sinking the shaft with really good prospects. I saw splendid prospects washed from the bottom of the shaft where the reef seems to become solid, and likely to make into a valuable compact body of. stone.
Midas. — This company have commenced driving to intersect the reef cut in the Triangle at a low level." The reef of the Triangle trends 13 dgs. east of north, consequently it runs the whole length of the Midas, thence into the Troy and Young companies' ground.
