Tuesday. The commencement of-the Committee proceedings indicates a determination on the part of the Opposition fight hard. Mr Reid contradicted. all the statements of Major Atkinson; relative" to the appropriations 'in Otago although' the several totals made up from .the Appropriation Act. The Hutt electors are writing to the Post stating that the chairman's counting of hands at the meeting on Monday was erroneous". They say the resolution against Abolition was carried, which is gammon. One letter is authoritatively signed, but the others were perhaps concocted in the Evening Post office. .
