' No. 28.-APPLICATION FOR LICENSE TO CONSTRUCT A , WATER RACE. . Warden's Office, Thames, August 9,1875. A PPLICATION has been made by J\. William G. Baenes for a LICENSE to construct a Water Eace for goldmining purposes, commencing at a point indicated by a peg marked E E on a creek about a hundred yards north of Measlestown Creek, falling into head of fourth branch of Tairua Biver, taking in unnoccupied streams along course of Eace, and terminating at a point on Pearl Claim indicated by peg marked E E.. ■ The length of suck Eace is three miles or thereabouts, and its intended course is east and west. The mean depth and breadth of • such Eace is one foot six inches by two feet, and it is capable of carrying five sluice heads of water, and the number of sluice heads of water of forty inches each which it is intended to appropriate is five, and the land required for euch Eace is fifteen feet on each side thereof. NOTICE is therefore given, t hat on the 21st day of September, -1875, a License may be granted to the said William G. Baenes for the above-described Water Eace, unless valid objection be in the meantime made in writing and lodged at this office not less than seven clear days before that date. W. A PPLICATiON has been made by jUL Eichaed Kennan for a LICENSE to Construct a Water Eace for mining purposes commencing at a point Karaka Creek at corner of Mr Hall's ellotment in Mackay street, andat the end of Bright Smile Goldnvning Company's tail race, terminating on the Beach. The length of such Bace, 'is half a mile, or thereabouts, and its^ intended course is N.E. and S.W. The 'mean depth and breadth of such Eace is three.feet by two feei, and it is capable of carrying Five sluice heads of water; and the number of sluice heads of forty inches eacTf which it is intended to appropriate is Five.
