The subject matter of the Rev. John Cartwright's discourse to-morrow will be " Not Known."

We draw the attention of those who wish to attend the funeral of the late Mrs Ellen Johnson to the notice that the funeral will leave the late residence of deceased, Pollen street, to-morrow at JJ.3O p.m. and not at 3 o'clock as elsewhere stated, the reason of the alteration being that there are two funerals fixed for the same day and only one hearse available.

We have New Zealand Gazette Nos. 42 and 43. The former contains the Go vernor's speech on opening Parliament. The latter contains besides the usual Government notices, a number of memorials for registration of Tairua Goldmining Companies.

The latter half of the Financial Statement, our special's Wellington letter, correspondence, mining items, and other matters are excluded from the present issue.

The telegraph operators all over the Colony have had a pretty hard time of it the last two nights. The Local Government and Abolition Bills were wired through on Friday morning, and the Financial Statement this morning; which, besides aU the ordinary work, must be a tax on the operators. We can bear testimony to the excellent " copy " provided in these lengthy messages, there being very few inaccuracies of any kind.
