Pbinting and Binding Machine. — The "Victory" Printing Machine Company hare invented a machine which can turn out of hand, ready for the readers' use no fewer_ per hour than six thousand copies' of a work containing in all twenty-four pages, of. printed matter, pasted and bound together, with* - oat the aid of' the' manipulative of folding, stitching, and binding. VfTho machine in question has been made for an American firm, and has. cost between three and four thousand potfnds. ~ The operation of " feeling " is entirely dispensed with ; ' the machine, ~ which measures but 27ft. in length, regulates. its own supply, and in very Itttle more ■ than a second a sheet of clean paper passes - in at one end and conies' out at the other in the form of a well-cut and solidly bound book. At one end is placed a continuous roll of paper measuring about four miles in length, and this having been attached to the machine, is first of all pasted right along the back, which has to jit into the cover, by means of two small Soxes at the top. The sheet then passes down between the one pair of cylinders and receives the first impression; .then it moves in a backward direction, is pasted on the reverse side, cut at the exact length, and, after , making in all some thirteen movements, travels towards the extreme end of the machine, where it.meets.the cover, which has been printed simultaneously with the book, and is thrown off, as before stated, • as a complete bound book-at the rate of 6,000 an hour. The machine is.described, as . simple in its operation, and comparatively quiet.-rGentral News Circular-
