Charles Whicher and George Huntley, charged, with being drunk= and incapable in Pollen street, Shortland,* were each fined 10s and costs, or 24 hours' imprisonment. ' Ellen Duncan was charged; with|being drunk and incapable in Brown street, Grahanistbwn. Fined 10a, or 24 hours' imprisonment. -Also that she did on the 12th instant wilfully and maliciously break a pane of glass in the window of the European Hotel, Brown street, value fire shillings, the property of Catherine McCarthy. Prisoner said. she had. no recollection of having done so. Time was given for the appearance of the in-^lj terested parties, who failed to appear, and the case was struck out. SUMMONS CASES. John McLanglan was summoned for a breach of section 28, Bye-law No 3, Borough of Thames, by allowing one goat to wander at large in Queen street. There was no appearance of accused, or of Eliza Jane McLanglan who was called by the police. His Worship directed enquiries .to be made, and stated that if the defendant had received the summons, he would issue. a warrant for his apprehension, if not, anether summons must be issued. Henry Curtis was summoned for breach of Section 36, Bye-law No. 1, Borough of Thames, by not having his carriage lights properly lighted -whilst his carriage was being used. . „ • • Pleaded guilty to having one of his lights out, but stated that owing to the windy nature of the night it had blown out and the police had not given him .time to relight it.
