THIS DAY.

(Before W. Fraser, Esq., Warden.) The Tairua Oases. The doors of the Warden's Court were opened this morning at eleven o'clock, when the Court was immediately rushed by the crowd of witnesses, legal luminaries, and general public which had collected in Queen street .to watch the proceedings of this important case. The patience of the spectators was, however, rather heavily taxed, as the Warden did not take his seat until 12 o'clock, and many of the general public in the meantime left. Different renmrk» were passed as to to the cause of the delay. An opinion or two was hazarded that the business was being settled outside the Court, and that the appearance of an intended hearing was only to give the " settlers "an opportunity of settling the matter through the telegraph wires. . On one side the forensic luminaries looked sick, .and on the other side they looked assuring und jocose.. A little after 12 o'clock the public left. After considerable delay the Warden entered the Court, and disposed of certain minor cases before proceeding to the big one.

BAND OF HOPE. j James Macky, Junior, was the appli- \ cant. The only objection was that lodged by the District Engineer, owing to the boundary lineoverlapping the Ajax claim. to the 22nd jnst. . ELDORADO LEASE. .; Scott Hunter appeared to support the application/ His Worship said the District Engineer was the only objector, for the same reason as in the last case—-an error in the bearings of the boundaries. He intended to grant the application, but could not do so until ho discovered who was.to-blame with respect to the irregularity in marking off. He would therefore adjourn this case to same date, 22nd instant.

THE CROWN LEASE. Thomas Logan did not appear, but was represented by Mr Turtle. The same objection was taken in this case, and it was also.adjourned to the 22nd. Mr Macdonald pould not see why the engineer should object in the case of land not granted.

His Worship said the land was in pro cess of being granted, and he would no have found out the circumstances but for the engineer's objection, there being none lodged by the Ajax.
