Paeeoa, June 4th.
I don't suppose you expect anything very exciting from, this quarter, so I haven't troubled you with any notes lately. The place is not quite deserted, but it is amazingly quiet. I notice that we are to have regular communication with Grahamstown again, which will be a great boon. I noticed several gentlemen the other day inspecting the river bank, and I learnt that they were looking out for a site for a new wharf, which it has been decided is to be near Cassrell and Bennett's new hotel. . .
The large hotel erected for Hay man is now nearly completed and is to be opened by a ball to come off shortly. There will be a demand for, white boots for the occasion. The hotel is to be named the Eoyal Mail. The billiard-table has arrived, and amongst other things for Mackaytown recently received I noticed a piano.
